Hello, I'm Annica

Picture
Thanks for checking out my about page!

Under the Fig Tree Mom is all about giving glory to God while trying out simple and natural methods of doing things.

I'll share some tips on gardening, kitchen remedies, cooking plant based , and much more. Come, let's walk through the narrow path together.
About

I'm a mom of identical twin girls that have changed my life completely!

When they say that children are a blessing, boy is that an understatement.

Psalms 127:3 says:
Children are a heritage from the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

I've been incredibly blessed with a hard working, caring and supportive husband. He has allowed me to quit my profession as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) and do what I was born to do.

Although I really loved my job as a CLS and worked really hard to get there, I felt that changing my career to a stay-at-home mom was the right thing to do.

Especially after finding out that I was having not only one child, but two!

Oh my!

Twin Life

When I found out I was having twins, I. Was. Ecstatic! I laughed and cried at the same time and was overwhelmed with joy!

I felt like God had fulfilled His promise to me. Strange but true, I've always wanted twins and somehow knew that God was going to bless me with a pair!

My twins are now two years old and love to explore life. Here's some fun facts from commonly asked twin questions:

I can tell them apart easily, I can tell the different between their cries and voice, they love to play together and also fight each other.

Both take turns being the shy one or being the outgoing one. Daughter A is the dominant one, Daughter B can be a leader too. We didn't know how to go about naming our children so Tim, my amazing husband, and I started by taking the first letter of our names and choosing from there.

They were born at 37weeks (full term for twins), Daughter A was born first and weighed 5.5lbs, she will forever be known as Big sister.

Daughter B was born a minute later weighing 4.5lbs she will forever be known as the Little Sister.

Both Tim and I have extended family with twins. The girls are identical (mono-di) twins because they shared the same placenta (mono) and have a thin membrane separating them (di), also known as Super Twins!

My Hope in Christ

I'd like to share my testimony here,

Today, this morning, God spoke to me and said:

"But sanctify (set apart) the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ."
1Peter 3:15-16

I HAVE To share my story with you!

I grew up in a catholic home, my mother's side of the family is catholic and my grandmother was a devoted Roman Catholic.

She pretty much raised me and my siblings for most of our lives as our parents worked hard and went to school.

My dad is a protestant christian and there was some upheaval when I started attending his church.

My grandmother later told my family that I will be ok as long as I'm worshiping Christ and following the Bible, that's what is most important.

I grew up attending both churches, but as my parents got busier, they both stopped attending church and so did I. The church was the only place where I was hearing the Word of God, so as we stopped attending, my prayers, and my relationship with Christ dwindled.

I went to a public high school in southern California and I was highly influenced by my atheist friends. I had been brought up by the public school system and followed their doctrine so it was so easy to fall into an atheistic mind set.

I rebelled.

Long story short, I was a hot mess. I rebelled against God, my family and hated life itself. I was very depressed and anxious in college to the point of attempting suicide.

That was my turning point. I decided that if I lived, I would have to serve the Lord and let go of the demons that haunted me.

I was riddled with demons. I saw them in the mirror, I had awful night terrors, it was really bad.

You see, I got to a point where I not only rejected God but I was also mocking the idea of Him and also the idea of an evil adversary.

I began to listen to Black Metal (satanic heavy metal) music and believed that there were no consequences to my sin.

It took lots of prayer and dedication to the Word of God to overcome those demons.

It took me many years to overcome the total onslaught from the education system, marketing and mass media.

There is an agenda against me and you and our children to destroy any chance of us building a relationship with our Creator.

I was educated by the California State University system and indoctrinated to believe that evolution and the Big Bang Theory was not a theory but truth!

I applauded and jumped for joy when I heard Pope Francis declare that:

“When we read in Genesis the account of creation [we are] in danger of imagining that God was a magician, complete with a magic wand that can do all things. But he is not.” -Pope Francis via NBC news

My stomach now curls when I hear this. I. Was. Brainwashed.

It was through years and years of prayer and asking the Lord to show me what the Truth is, that finally, today with all confidence, I can say that I know what the Truth is.

God is good!

I've always wanted to be good. God knew this and has blessed me with what I needed.

He sent me a wonderful husband who makes it easy for me to be good and gave me two beautiful girls that need me to be good.

Together, we work through the faith of Jesus who gives us the strength to walk towards the narrow way.

Do You Want to Know What the Truth is?

Jesus says in John 14:6:
I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me.
As one of my good friend says, There's so much more to be said. I'll save some of that for my blog posts.

Fun Facts!

I was born and raised in Southern California, Los Angeles County.

My favorite color is green, I love horses and used to be a horseback trail guide back in the day.

I'm bilingual, I speak English and Spanish. I love to cook and eat spicy food. I have to put chili on everything.... ok, maybe not in my oatmeal... maybe.

I love to be outdoors, whether it's swimming in the ocean, hiking the mountains, or gardening in my own backyard.

Revelation 21:4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
